What is Trade 2018?
Trade 2018 is the extensive Trade and Investment Program being developed to run in the lead-up to and during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games.
Trade 2018 is designed to strengthen trade and investment ties across the Commonwealth and also boost Queensland’s international business profile. It is our hope we can change the way future hosts plan their Games by showing the value of this long standing Commonwealth institution as a vehicle for more than sport.

What is the Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program?
Held during the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018), the Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program (the Program) is a state-wide event, providing an opportunity for government and business leaders to meet, build new relationships, strengthen trade and investment ties and explore opportunities across the Commonwealth and beyond.
A detailed Program schedule has been complied and events will take place in cities across Queensland including the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns.
Please note: Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program does not give access to Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games tickets or sporting events
Who established the Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program?
Trade 2018 has been established by the Queensland Government and City of Gold Coast and will be delivered in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat, Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council and the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation and other Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Event Cities. The program has been designed to strengthen trade and investment ties across the Commonwealth.
Who are the partners in Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program?
Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program is a partnership between the Queensland Government, through the Department of Tourism, Major Events, Small Business and the Commonwealth Games and the City of Gold Coast with support from the Australian Government. Other Program partners and stakeholders include: Austrade, Brisbane City Council, Cairns Regional Council, City of Townsville, Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council, Commonwealth Secretariat, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games Corporation, Tourism and Events Queensland, and Trade and Investment Queensland.
Where will the Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program take place and when?
The Program will run from 3 to 16 April 2018, with scheduled events taking place in cities across Queensland, including the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Townsville and Cairns. Times for events and activities will vary, please refer to the Programsection of the website for details.
What is Commonwealth House?
The pinnacle venue for the Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program is Commonwealth House, located at Kurrawa Park, Broadbeach on the Gold Coast.
Commonwealth House will serve as an exclusive business hub during Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) with the majority of events from the Program scheduled to take place at this venue.
Commonwealth House is located amid key GC2018 sporting and media venues, accommodation and transport connections, making it ideal as the central venue for Program events held on the Gold Coast. Commonwealth House will be jointly located with the Gold Coast Media Centre, providing direct links to visiting international media.

Who is eligible to participate / attend an event?
All individuals and businesses (international and domestic) need to complete the online registration form to be considered for the Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program.
Registration does not guarantee participation in the Program – all applications will be reviewed by the Trade 2018 team to ensure the application is true and correct, and the individual or business meets the objectives of Trade 2018 and has a genuine interest in doing business across the Commonwealth and beyond.
As part of the registration process, applicants also need to agree to the Program terms and conditions and submit an appropriate passport style headshot.
Registrations must be submitted by 16 March 2018. Please register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment as places are limited.
Please note:
- Queensland businesses seeking to participate must be a registered Gold Coast or Queensland based business, have a successful and proven track record and have an active Australian Business Number (ABN). Priority will be given to businesses who are export or investment ready and have an established export or investment plan.
- All interested individuals and/or businesses must be registered by 16 March 2018. There will be no registrations available on the day of the event.
- There is no public access to any Trade 2018 event venues (including Commonwealth House).
What does it cost to attend the Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program?
All scheduled Program events, site visits and activities are free of charge (no cost charged).
You will be required to arrange your own funds to cover associated costs such as flights, transfers, accommodation, transport, entertainment and dining and expenses of a personal nature to participate.
Please note: Flights and accommodation should be booked by businesses once delegate participation has been confirmed by the Trade 2018 support team
How long should delegates visit Queensland?
Given the duration of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) and the Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program, we propose delegate programs be between two to four days in duration. Options will be available for delegates to participate in blocks of activities tailored to areas of interest.
We invite delegates to stay as long as they wish but anticipate not all delegates will stay the duration of GC2018. The program is focused around key priority sectors and delegates may be interested in attending multiple events during the course of the Games.
While opportunities in Queensland are ongoing, the Trade 2018 Games Time Trade and Investment Program will run from 3 to 16 April 2018; activity at Commonwealth House will take place from 26 March to 16 April with core programming to start 3 April.

What safety and security measures are being coordinated?
GC2018 venues will be secure and have onsite security specialists.
For the safety and security of all guests entering Commonwealth House, delegates and guests will be required to comply with the conditions of entry to the venue, which may include but not be limited to entry scanning and a search of personal items by consent.
